Deputies with the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office were called Wednesday morning to the 2700 block of Deep Springs Road. When deputies pulled up, they witnessed Sean Goode, 32, choking his uncle, Rickey Lamar Pullen, authorities said.
Witnesses told deputies the attack was unprovoked and "for no apparent reason," according to a news release from Sheriff Scott Chitwood.
Pullen, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
Goode had lived next door to Pullen but stayed the night at his uncle's place Tuesday night, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing.
