Authorities have identified the man shot to death by Chattanooga police on Friday evening following a vehicle crash in the 4000 block of Shallowford Road.

Officers say the man ran from the scene of the crash and shot at them first when they located him at the Circle K gas station at the intersection of Shallowford Road and North Moore Road. The gas station's security footage showed the man raise his firearm and shoot at an officer, police spokesperson Sgt. Jeremy Eames said. The officer returned fire and struck the man, he said.

Late Friday evening, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office identified the man as 27-year-old Brandin Keith Davis.

According to the sheriff's office, Davis had active warrants for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and domestic assault from Anderson County, Tenn.

Davis' firearm was recovered at the scene, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.
