A Chattanooga man was arrested for allegedly physically and sexually assaulting a Walker County, Georgia, woman after he picked her up in his taxi and drove her home after a night out.
On Friday at about 3 a.m., Walker County deputies responded to a report of an assault at the woman's home in Rossville, according to a news release by the Walker County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived, they found the woman inside her residence, wrapped only in a blanket. She was bleeding from her mouth.
The woman said she was picked up by a taxi in Chattanooga and brought to her home, the release states. She gave the description of the driver to deputies and told them he came into her apartment and, once inside, physically and sexually assaulted her.
Surveillance footage was recovered and photos of the suspect and of a white, four-door passenger car with taxi markings were obtained.
The suspect was identified in the news release as Nakai Lamont McMillan of Chattanooga. The investigation found McMillan had been investigated in the past for similar incidents, with allegations by other victims reporting physical and sexual assault after being picked up by a taxi driver.
McMillan was arrested in Hamilton County and is charged with rape and aggravated battery.
He appears to have a history of picking up intoxicated women late at night from nightclubs and bars and offering them rides home, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said. He then initiates conversation and offers to do drugs with them at their homes, Wilson said.
If anyone has more information or has had an encounter with McMillan, they are asked to call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 706-639-0854 or submit an anonymous tip at www.walkerso.com.
