A former teacher at Ringgold Middle School was arrested Thursday for sending inappropriate photos to a juvenile.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said his office was contacted by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 4 and was told that a young child was being sexually exploited over the internet by someone living in Catoosa County, according to a Friday news release.

Detectives launched an investigation based on the tip and found that David Fowler, 37, had sent photos that were inappropriate for children to the Jasper County juvenile, the release states.

On Thursday, a search warrant was executed at Fowler's home, where he was arrested without incident and charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes, obscene internet contact with a child and electronically furnishing obscene materials to minors.

This investigation is continuing, but there is no evidence to suggest any of the victims reside in Catoosa County, Sisk said.

Fowler resigned from his job Friday morning. He had taught at Ringgold Middle since 2018.

Fowler was being held without bond at the Catoosa County jail and awaits his first appearance hearing in Catoosa County Magistrate Court.
