Motorcyclist dies after multi-vehicle crash Saturday on Lee Highway

A 51-year-old motorcyclist has died after a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Lee Highway, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

Around noon, the police department's traffic division responded to a report of a crash involving three vehicles in the 9300 block of Lee Highway. The driver of a Chevrolet Avalanche made a left turn from Lee Highway onto Ooltewah-Ringgold Road just as a man on a Harley-Davidson motorccyle entered the intersection, causing the motorcyclist to collide with the vehicle, according to investigators.

Shortly after the impact, the Chevy Avalanche struck another vehicle, a Toyota Rav 4, near the same intersection. Both the driver and the passenger of the Avalanche were taken to a local hospital by emergency services.

The motorcyclist, who was ejected during the crash, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Toyota Rav 4 reported no injuries, the news release states.

Identities of the victims involved in the crash had not been released by late Sunday.
