Chattanooga police charge man with DUI, vehicular homicide after crash kills passenger

A man is being charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide after a late-night crash near downtown Chattanooga killed his passenger, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Around 10:57 p.m. Thursday, Christopher Patterson, 32, was allegedly driving east near the intersection of McCallie and Bailey avenues when the vehicle veered off the road and dropped down a hill before coming to a stop.

The release states that first responders pronounced Patterson's 29-year-old female passenger dead on the scene.

Patterson is now in custody, and an investigation is ongoing.

Chattanooga police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip through the CPD mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
