A Catoosa County sheriff's deputy and his wife have been arrested and charged with the manufacture and sale of illegal narcotics, according to a news release from the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said he received information about 33-year-old Caleb Eugene Cavin in November and contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into the allegations. The investigation led to criminal charges against Cavin and his wife, Cayla Ingram Cavin.

Both are accused of manufacturing cannabis-laced edibles for resale and using mobile device applications to complete illegal transactions, the news release stated.

Additionally charged with violation of oath, Caleb Cavin was terminated Dec. 3 from the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office.

"All of my sworn and civilian employees are held to highest standards of integrity and respect of the law," Sisk said in a released statement. "It is disappointing to learn of a sworn officer violating their oath to serve our community honorably."

Cavin and his wife are being held in the Catoosa County Jail pending an initial appearance and bond hearing.
