A fire destroyed a home in the 3000 block of McGill Cemetery Road in Hamilton County on Wednesday night, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department news release.
Firefighters responded to the call about 6:15 p.m. and found the house fully engulfed in flames. No one was home at the time of the blaze.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly, the release said.
The home is considered a total loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Birmingham Highway was shut down as crews fought the fire because the hydrant was across the street from the residence.
