Judy Spiegel, the former Chattanoogan whose family has held out hope throughout the rescue and recovery effort at the Surfside, Florida, building collapse, was confirmed dead by authorities on Sunday.

Her daughter, Rachel Spiegel, told the Times Free Press that the body was located on Friday and the family was informed on Sunday.

"In terms of funeral details, we should have more information tomorrow," Rachel Spiegel said on Sunday. "We are also trying to set up a Zoom for those who are not able to attend in person. We will have more information tomorrow."

Information is also being given out on a fundraising page in her memory. Judy Spiegel, 65, was the wife of Kevin Spiegel, former CEO of Erlanger Health System. The two were active philanthropists in Chattanooga.

"We thank our entire community for the outpouring of love, support and hope during this unimaginable event," the family said in a statement on the fundraising page.
