Man dies after Shallowford Road crash earlier this month

A 34-year-old man is dead after a three-car collision July 9 on Shallowford Road, according to a Chattanooga police news release.

The crash happened just before midnight. Police say a Hyundai Sonata was traveling east in the 4700 block of Shallowford Road when it veered out of its lane, striking a Toyota Camry head-on and causing a third vehicle to crash.

Emergency services transported the driver of the Sonata and the driver and a passenger from the Camry to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. The driver of the third vehicle reported no injuries, according to investigators.

The Camry passenger remained in the hospital and then died from his injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chattanooga police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip via the CPD Mobile App. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
