A man died after a crash Thursday in the 700 block of South Orchard Knob Avenue, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
Officers responded around 12:06 p.m. and determined a Chrysler PT was traveling on South Orchard Knob Avenue when it accelerated and struck five unoccupied vehicles, including a skid steer loader that was parked in a marked road closure area. The Chrysler PT then veered off the roadway and struck a church.
The 79-year-old driver of the PT was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, authorities said. No other injuries were reported, the release states.
