Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Catoosa County jail on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office.

David Matthew Faulkner, 22, reportedly walked away from a landscaping work detail on the jail property. He stands 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs about 145 pounds and was last seen just before noon wearing orange jail clothes, but apparently took off his shirt before going into a nearby wooded area. He has a criminal history in Catoosa, Walker and Murray counties but is considered non-violent, the release states.

Faulkner was being held for violating the terms of his probation and driving on a suspended license. He was scheduled to be released on April 18, according to a statement from Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk.

"Unfortunately, his choice to leave will result in him being charged with escape, that could carry a five-year sentence," Sisk said.

Anyone with any information on Faulkner's whereabouts is asked to call the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office at (706) 935-2323.
