Authorities with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency have identified the man who died after a boating accident on Chickamauga Lake as 62-year-old George Knight, according to a news release.
TWRA officers responded to a report of a man in the water near the Patterson Road Access Area of Sale Creek on Chickamauga Lake around 3 p.m. Saturday. Knight, who was kayaking alone, was spotted by a family member floating and unconscious in more than 10 feet of water, the release states.
Knight was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office. The Sale Creek Fire Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
