A woman has died after a crash on Interstate 24, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Officials arrived to Interstate 24 near Lee Highway around 5:40 a.m. on April 25 and determined a Ford vehicle had been traveling east when it made contact with a guardrail on the left side of the interstate. The 18-year-old female driver of the Ford lost control of the vehicle and crossed all lanes of traffic to the right before leaving the roadway and hitting a tree.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators learned this past weekend that she died from her injuries, the release states.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip via the CPD Mobile App. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
