A man was arrested for driving under the influence on Thursday after barreling off the road and causing a vehicle fire on the North Shore.

Video captured by a resident of a nearby apartment building shows firefighters trying to extinguish the flames caused by the accident late Thursday. The resident began filming the fire after the driver drove his pickup truck into a "trench" associated with construction at the intersection sometime after 10:30 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Chattanooga Police Department said Friday that the driver ran off the road in the construction zone near the intersection of Frazier Avenue and Tremont Street just before 11 p.m. Thursday.

While the vehicle caught fire, it was the only vehicle involved and no one was injured. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
