Chattanooga police arrest teen suspected of shooting man in parking lot of Cheddar's restaurant

A 17-year-old male was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting of a man on May 9 in the parking lot of Cheddar's restaurant on Gunbarrel Road, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

The CPD Fugitive Unit took the suspect into custody and charged him with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was booked into the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.

On May 9 about 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at 2014 Gunbarrel Road and found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS with a non-life-threatening injury.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit also responded and were told that the victim and suspect were seen together prior to the shooting. The suspect fled the area before the police arrived.
