A decade after Anthony White was shot multiple times in an alley, a Hamilton County grand jury has indicted a Chattanooga man responsible for his death, according to a news release from the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office.

District Attorney General Neal Pinkston announced May 25 that Cordalro Strickland was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting death of White. Strickland is serving 15 years for the second-degree murder of Melvin Fennell and the attempted murders of two other people that happened in 2011, the release states.

White's murder was reported on May 21, 2011, when Chattanooga police arrived at the alley behind Robbins Street to find White dead after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. White had a total of 42 bullet entry and exit wounds, according to a Hamilton County medical examiner's report. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.

Assistance from the Chattanooga Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office made Strickland's indictment possible, and he is scheduled to go through Hamilton County Criminal Court for arraignment, General Pinkston said.

Anyone with information on any unsolved homicide is asked to call the district attorney's cold case hotline at 423-209-7470. Tips can be sent to coldcases@hcdatn.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
