A Collegedale police officer was hit by a vehicle while directing school traffic in front of Ooltewah Middle School on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Collegedale Police Department.
The officer was hit at around 3:27 p.m. and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. He was later identified as Sgt. Mark Hennessee.
All drivers are encouraged to avoid the area around the 5100 block of Ooltewah Ringgold Road as the incident is investigated.
