The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Chattanooga and its surrounding areas until 11 p.m. EDT as Wednesday brings the possibility of severe storms and flooding.
According to WRCB-TV, the main risk window for severe weather is expected to last from noon until 9 p.m.
The area is also under a flash flood watch until 8 a.m. Thursday with an expected 2-4 inches of rain to fall.
According to the National Weather Service, a tornado watch means that conditions are "favorable for the development of tornadoes." A tornado warning is when an actual tornado has been sighted.
