The Chattanooga Hip-Hop Summit, held at the Edney Innovation Center in 2019, will this year be held at a variety of places throughout town during the week and will culminate with a free conference and concert at Miller Park.
Some of the events throughout the week, such as the NoonTunes show on Thursday at Miller Park, are not officially part of the summit, but recommended events, according to organizer Sammy Lowdermilk.
The main conference and concert will take place Saturday in the park, where the 400 or so registrants will find about 50 vendors selling everything from merchandise to food, as well as several panel discussions throughout the day.
"We will have everything from fitness instructors to educational panels," Lowdermilk said.
The panel discussions will include improving your digital strategy, marketing and branding, dealing with cryptocurrency, the pros and cons of remaining an independent artist versus what it is like to be an artist signed to a label and how to run your career in a professional, business-like manner.
Lowdermilk said Hip-Hop Cha works closely with SoundCorp, the local non-profit that focuses on promoting local music, throughout the year and has worked with them for this event.
Mayor Tim Kelly proclaimed Oct. 11-16 as Chattanooga Hip-Hop week, and from Monday-Saturday the planned events include live music, poetry, a dance party, karaoke, an art show and the conference.
"We hope that this will continue every year and multiple organizations will host events throughout next year's hip-hop week," said Micah Chapman, co-founder of Hip-Hop CHA and the Hip-Hop Summit.
"We encourage the community to come out and enjoy the handful of events we've put together or celebrate hip-hop week however they see fit."
The daylong event Saturday starts at 10 a.m. A free, live concert will conclude the day in Miller Park and will feature YGTUT, Mike Floss, and Keenon Rush, starting at 7 p.m.
