Man killed in alleged road rage shooting incident in Catoosa County, Georgia

A man is dead after an alleged road rage shooting incident in Catoosa County, Georgia, according to a county sheriff's office news release.

Jack Pedigo, 34, and Daniel Vaughn exchanged heated words around 8 p.m. Monday on Battlefield Parkway, authorities said. Pedigo then followed Vaughn and his wife to their home on Elm Avenue, as heated words and threats continued, the news release stated.

Pedigo left the home and went to his home on Three Notch Road, the release said.

Vaughn called 911 to report the incident, and the sheriff's office placed a "lookout" on Pedigo's vehicle, authorities said. Pedigo later returned to the Elm Avenue home at around 9:26 p.m. More heated words were exchanged before Vaughn fired a weapon, killing Pedigo, according to the release.

An investigation is ongoing.
