Contributed photo by Metropolitan Nashville Police Department / Thomas Henshall Jr.Homicide detectives in Nashville arrested a Chattanooga man and charged him Sunday with failure to report the discovery of a dead body and evidence tampering after he admitted to driving a corpse, believed to be that of his mother, from Hamilton County to Nashville.
According to a news release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, 37-year Thomas Henshall Jr. arrived at Nashville's VA Medical Center shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday with the body "wrapped up in a tarp in the back of his truck," police said. Henshall told investigators his mother had committed suicide and that he found her in a wooded area of Chattanooga.
It was also determined through investigation that Henshall and his girlfriend, who he picked up at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with the body already in his truck, stopped for food, gas and coffee before driving to a VA medical facility in Chattanooga. After seeing that the facility in Chattanooga was closed, they later drove to Nashville's VA Medical Center, according to investigators.
The mother has been identified as 60-year-old Danielle Bowen, and Henshall is jailed in Nashville on a $80,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
