Chattanooga's Nightfall series lineup to feature several local headliners

The 2022 Nightfall Friday night concert series will again feature primarily national and regional touring acts headlining the free Friday night shows at Miller Plaza, according to a news release. It will also have several local acts as headliners.

In addition to the Aug. 26 date, which will feature the winner of Road to Nightfall competition (which selects a local band to headline one week of the series), there will be two dates featuring co-headlining local acts. The first will feature Opposite Box and The Original FBI on June 17, and the second will present Call Me Spinster and the Drew Sterchi & Blues Tribe.

Nightfall is the city's longest-running outdoor summer concert series, celebrating its 35th season this year with a 15-week series of free outdoor concerts beginning Friday, May 27, and continuing every Friday through Sept. 2. Shows begin at 7 p.m. and end at approximately 9:30 p.m.

In addition to music on the Miller Plaza stage, it features food trucks, local vendors and lawn games in Miller Park.

The finals for this year's Road to Nightfall competition will precede the beginning of the Nightfall season with a show beginning at 7 p.m. on May 6 at Miller Plaza. The top four bands from the April preliminary rounds will each perform a 30-minute set to compete for the chance to be a Nightfall headliner on Aug. 26. The Road to Nightfall finals at Miller Plaza will not involve road closures or the use of Miller Park, since it is not a part of the regular Nightfall season.

New features for 2022 include roller skating with the Moonlight Rollers on the second Friday of each month and a car display by the River City Corvette Club on the fourth Friday of every month on the block of M.L.
