Chattanooga police arrest 19-year-old suspect in connection with July 28 shooting

A 19-year-old man wanted as a suspect in a shooting that occurred last week was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

At 3:48 p.m., investigators with the Chattanooga Police Fugitive Division, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives went to the 800 block of Sylvan Drive to find 19-year-old Walter Fortson III, a suspect wanted in a shooting that occurred on July 28 near the 1400 block of Lillian Lane.

Fortson was taken into custody and arrested on warrants charging domestic aggravated assault, attempted criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
