The Chattanooga Police Department has announced that it is accepting applications for the next round of Citizens Police Academy.
The nine-week training program that will take place in the fall is now accepting applications, according to a Tuesday news release sent by the department's spokesperson, Maj. Jerri Sutton.
"The program offers information, interactive activities and shared dialogue with the department and its officers," Sutton said in the release. "Academy students receive instruction and training in numerous police-related subjects."
Those who participate in the training are not able to conduct law enforcement services, such as making arrests or assisting with investigations.

The application deadline is Aug. 15 for the fall class that will begin on Sept. 1. Up to 25 people will be selected to participate in the classes that will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday at the Chattanooga Police Department Service Center, 3410 Amnicola Highway. Applications can be filled out on the department's website.
