96-year-old man dies after crash on Rossville Boulevard

A 96-year-old man has died after a crash on the 2700 block of Rossville Boulevard on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Investigators determined a Dodge was in the southbound turn lane on Rossville Boulevard waiting to make a left turn as another Dodge was traveling north in the same block at 1:07 p.m. The driver in the first Dodge made a left turn in front of the second Dodge that was approaching the intersection, resulting in a collision, police said.

The 96-year-old driver of the first Dodge was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released his name.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip via the Chattanooga Police Department's mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

An investigation is ongoing.
