At around 10:25 a.m., crews were called to the 6600 block of Palms Court after reports of at least two people exposed to carbon monoxide. Investigators said apartments are being built at the location and construction workers had heaters set up inside and outside of a building. Several of those heaters "malfunctioned, putting [carbon monoxide] into the structure," the release said.

Crews at the scene found two workers who were unresponsive and began treating the victims with oxygen, according to the release. A number of construction employees were still working at the site and unaware of the exposure. Additional emergency services arrived at the scene to help with patient care, and the entire structure was evacuated.

Carbon monoxide levels at 540 parts per million were detected on gas monitors at the scene, investigators said. Medical personnel examined every construction worker at the site, and at least four were transported to a local hospital to be treated.
