No weapon located at Central High School after report of student with gun

Police were called to the campus of Central High School on Thursday on a report of a possible student with a gun, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The call was placed at 12:59 p.m. and the school was placed on lockdown. After a search including K-9 units, no weapon was located, the release states.

While normal instruction is done for the school year, there were students on the campus for summer school.

Just last week, Central High School was the site of a memorial for 24-year-old alumnus Darian Hixson, who died after a shooting incident on McCallie Avenue on June 5. Three people died, and 14 were injured. That shooting followed one downtown on May 28, in which six teens were injured.
