Chattanooga police investigating after dead body found inside car on Boynton Drive

A man has been charged with criminal homicide after authorities found a decomposing body in a car on Boynton Drive, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Michael Orr, 54, was arrested and charged after police responded to the 900 block of Boynton Drive on June 20 on a report of a deceased person.

At the scene, officers located the body of 48-year-old Samuel Moore Jr. in a car. Moore's body was found in what police said to be "advanced stages of decomposition."

It was determined through an autopsy that the manner of death was a homicide.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the homicide tip line at 423-643-5100 or submit a tip via the Atlas One app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
