Chattanooga area under winter storm warning for early Saturday morning

The Chattanooga area is under a winter storm warning for Saturday morning, as the region is expected to get 1 to 3 inches of snow with up to 35 miles per hour winds.

The warning currently runs from midnight to 10 a.m, and the forecasted high for Saturday is 33 degrees with a low of 17.

According to Alison Pryor's Local 3 News weather forecast, the peak chance for snow will be from 1 to 5 a.m., with higher accumulations of 2-5 inches north of Chattanooga and lower accumulations to the south.

The National Weather Service alert notes that snow and ice-covered roadways are possible, especially in higher elevations and advises that if you must travel in these conditions, to make sure to have an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.
