Dalton police investigating early Thursday morning fatal shooting

Authorities in Dalton, Georgia, are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.

Police said the shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex near the intersection of Selvidge and Matilda streets. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. Emergency services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to police.

The shooter involved in the incident fled the scene and is still at large.
