Second fire in a month extinguished at Red Robin at Hamilton Place mall

The Chattanooga Fire Department extinguished a fire Thursday afternoon at Hamilton Place mall's Red Robin, according to a tweet from the department.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. The location was amid repairs following another fire April 22, according to the fire department.

Firefighters responded shortly after noon, the 1:04 p.m. tweet said.

"Smoke and flames visible from the roof on arrival," the tweet said. "Fire found in the vent system in the kitchen. Employees were on the roof trying to put the fire out with extinguishers. Firefighters took over."

The restaurant was not open for business at the time of Thursday's fire.

"Crews were working inside and doing repairs from another recent fire at this location on April 22 so that the restaurant could reopen," the tweet said. " Fire is out."

Fire department spokeswoman Lindsey Rogers said fire investigators do not suspect foul play.

"Nothing suspicious either time," Rogers said in an email to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. "[It was] all related to the kitchen.

"Cleaning and repairs will continue so that the restaurant can soon reopen," Rogers said. "The Fire Marshal's Office and Health Department will also complete upcoming inspections."
