LOS ANGELES (AP) - Gin D. Wong, a visionary Los Angeles architect whose iconic works helped shaped the look of his hometown from the 1950s to the present day, has died at age 94.
The University of Southern California said Thursday that Wong died Sept. 1 at his Beverly Hills, California, home.
The architect, a 1950 graduate of the university, had been a member of its Board of Trustees for more than 30 years.
His best-known projects are likely the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles International Airport and the Union 76 Gas Station in Beverly Hills.
The latter, with its sweeping canopy, more closely resembles a space ship than a refueling stop. It has been described as "a true icon of Mid-Century Modernism."
