PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Grammy-winning country singer Chris Stapleton is returning to his hometown in eastern Kentucky to play a free concert for students and teachers.

A news release from Ram Trucks and ACM Lifting Lives says Stapleton will give a performance in the gymnasium at Johnson Central High School in Paintsville on Thursday. The release notes that the event is in partnership with the truck company and Lifting Lives, the charitable arm of the Academy of Country Music.

Stapleton will perform twice in Paintsville: once at the school and then in a sold-out paid performance for the community.

The former bluegrass singer-turned country songwriter has had a breakout year since releasing his 2015 country album "Traveller." He is the leading nominee for next month's Academy of Country Music Awards.
