Charges pending in East Ridge meth bust

East Ridge police found several items "consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine" at a Connell Street home on Saturday, police spokesman Erik Hopkins said.

Hopkins said no arrests have been made, and detectives are "actively following up leads" as charges are pending.

Police responded to the call at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Hopkins said.

"Neighbors had called police saying a female was in (a yard at 5338 Connell St.) throwing items and acting strange," Hopkins said in a news release.

The woman was gone when police arrived, Hopkins said, and as they looked for her they found several methamphetamine-related items.

Hopkins said police found a purse containing narcotics and the woman's ID.

After narcotics detectives arrived on the scene, a search warrant was issued, Hopkins said.

Police found no one inside after a "forced entry," but they did discover "more components to manufacture methamphetamine," Hopkins said.

A hazardous material team was dispatched to remove chemicals and byproducts from the home, police said.

The house was quarantined until the residence could be "properly cleaned by licensed contractors," Hopkins said.
