Mocs bullied by Bulldogs

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga suffered a debilitating 78-54 loss to Samford Monday evening.

It's UTC's second home loss of the season to a sub-.500 SoCon squad and dropped them to 13-13 and 5-8 in the league.

Samford (10-15, 4-9) executed its precise Princeton-style offense even after UTC switched to zone and trapping defenses which forced 18 turnovers.

The Bulldogs shot 61 percent from the floor and 15-of-24 from the 3-point line.

The Mocs couldn't buy a bucket. They shot 29.5 percent and repeatedly missed shots from two feet away.

Samford guard Josh Davis set a career high with 30 points including seven treys. Trey Montgomery added 10 points in Samford's highest scoring game of the season.

The Mocs were led by 15 points from Ty Patterson, 11 from Keegan Bell. Chris Early and Ricky Taylor each had 10 points.
