Dalton police are investigating a string of burglaries at churches.
At least eight churches have been burglarized since May 21, according to a police news release.
"You don't typically see burglaries at churches," police department spokesman Bruce Frazier said.
All the entries were made through a broken door or window, and the stolen property was mostly things that can easily be carried and sold, Mr. Frazier said.
HOW TO HELPAnyone with information about the church burglaries please call Detective Brandon Carter 706-278-9085, ext. 250.
All the churches appeared to have been rummaged through for cash, he said, but the thief or thieves may not realize that churches don't keep much money around and that collection plate money usually goes straight into the church bank account.
The pastor of one of the burglarized churches was philosophical.
"It's no use worrying" said Larry Wood, pastor of Crown View Church. "It happens, and you move on." he said.
Dalton police urge anyone with information about the break-ins to call them, said Mr. Frazier.
