Ex-officer faces more rape charges

A former Chattanooga policeman has been indicted on additional counts of statutory rape in an ongoing case related to a 17-year-old girl.

The Hamilton County grand jury indictment of Chad Bradley, 36, adds four charges of aggravated statutory rape. He was arrested in September and charged with one count each of aggravated statutory rape, statutory rape by an authority figure and tampering with evidence, records show.

The additional charges stem from the number of times Mr. Bradley is believed to have had consensual sex with the girl, court records show.

According to police reports, Mr. Bradley met the girl last summer while he was working an extra security-related job near the Hunter Museum of American Art.

Police reports state that on July 25, Mr. Bradley exchanged cell phone numbers with the girl. He sent her a text message the next day that read "come here sexy." Their physical relationship started the same day, reports state.

Police learned of the relationship through the girl's sister, according to records.

Mr. Bradley was placed on leave and then fired from the police department, records show.

He is scheduled to be arraigned March 26 in Hamilton County Criminal Court.
