Three injured in 2 accidents

Two accidents on Interstate 75 Tuesday left three drivers injured, one critically.

The first accident happened about 10 a.m. when John Miller, of Humboldt, Tenn., flipped his tractor-trailer on a curve near the I-75/I-24 split, said Sgt. Jerri Weary with the Chattanooga Police Department.

Miller was trapped inside his truck and, after being freed, was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries, Weary said.

Southbound traffic was stalled for three hours while debris from the wreck was cleared, Weary said.

Miller's condition is unknown, Weary said.

The second accident happened near Bonny Oaks Drive about 2 p.m. when the driver of a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was driving at high speed and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer, wedging the pickup under the trailer, Weary said.

The passenger of the pickup was taken to Erlanger hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the pickup was airlifted to Erlanger for life-threatening injuries, Weary said.

The names of the two victims have not been released, Weary said.
