Kevin Benton, of 6804 Savannah Estates Circle, escaped without injury after electrical problems with a kitchen ceiling fan apparently ignited the ceiling. The fire spread quickly to other parts of the home, according to a news release.

Because of the house's heavy insulation and tin walls, the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department had difficulty containing the fire, which created suction and pressure intense enough to blow off the garage door.

The fire caused significant damage to the kitchen and bedroom and extreme heat and smoke damage to the living room.

Benton is staying with family members and is insured, the release stated.
