Second defendant goes to trial in death of University of Memphis football player

A jury Tuesday was told the 2007 shooting death of University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford was either part of a group's botched robbery attempt or the work of the planner who had a separate and lethal agenda.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys gave the Criminal Court jury conflicting accounts of how and why the big lineman from Nashville was killed the night of Sept. 30, 2007.

"He was murdered on his own college campus; dead at the age of 21," said state prosecutor Ray Lepone, adding that defendant Victor Trezevant was the shooter. "He admits to 99.999 percent of it until it gets to the part of who shot Taylor. He said it was Devin."
