They are more than 800 strong. Each day, scores of them walk our hospital's campuses wearing green jackets and huge smiles. I'm talking about the Erlanger Auxiliary.
From running a huge gift shop to helping with pet therapy and families in crisis, these volunteers realize that even small things can have big effects on others.
And speaking of impact, the auxiliary has pledged $1 million to the new Children's Hospital Outpatient Center. That money comes from the gift shop and from the group's many fundraising projects throughout the year.
Studies have shown that people who volunteer live longer. It's just a simple way to give back.
