Good Deed: Family Dinner Week benefits the Maclellan Shelter for Families

Five local restaurants partnered in May to support homeless families by participating in the inaugural Family Dinner Week: A Benefit for The Maclellan Shelter for Families. During the week of May 6-13, restaurant partners donated a percentage from every meal to support the family shelter. On June 13, a check in the amount of $8,792.28 was presented to the Maclellan Shelter for Families.

Participating restaurant partners were: 2 Sons Kitchen and Market, 22 E. Martin Luther King Blvd.; Blue Orleans Seafood Restaurant, 1463 Market Street; STIR, 1444 Market Street; Taqueria Jalisco, two locations, 1634 Rossville Avenue and 850 Market Street; and, Vine Street Bakery, 1313 Hanover Street.

The Maclellan Shelter for Families, the first shelter of its kind in Chattanooga, opened its doors in 2014 and it features 13 units with 64 beds.

To date, 318 families, comprising of more than 1,000 men, women, and children have called The Maclellan Shelter for Families home.
