Last year my daughter, Stephanie Murphy, died from a stroke. Gracie, Stephanie's daughter, was 9 at the time and had already suffered the loss of losing her dad at the tender age of 2.

Gracie was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and unable to verbally communicate. I was desperate to find help for Gracie and myself, so we began attending Healing Hearts Family Night as well as starting one-on-one counseling sessions with Hospice of Chattanooga's grief counselors.

Within weeks, Gracie was able to communicate again, and I was able to start grieving the loss of my daughter and cope with the reality of becoming a parent to Gracie.

I don't know where we would be today if it weren't for Hospice of Chattanooga's grief support programs. We found hope in the midst of loss and have learned how to survive. We are still walking, putting one foot in front of the other each day.
