Last month Scott Burnett, store manager of Markman's in Chattanooga, and his staff presented a check for $650 to Jake Johnson, director of Go Red for Women Chattanooga. The check was presented as a result of a fundraiser held at Markman's, located outside Hamilton Place.

Markman's partnered with Sunny 92.3 and Q 97.3/99.3 to promote February as Go Red for Women for the American Heart Association. The fundraiser was held Feb. 1 through Feb. 14, where Markman's donated a portion of the proceeds from jewelry sales to the Chattanooga chapter of Go Red for Women.

"Cardiac disease is the number one killer among women," Burnett said. "Markman's has had a long tradition of giving back to the Chattanooga community, and since many commit to their partner on Valentine's, Markman's committed to Go Red for Women and the American Heart Association."
