We have opened this conversation to readers each of the last several Thanksgivings to share what you are grateful for. We did it again, and again you did not disappoint.

Know that I am grateful for your time and for reading. Happy Thanksgiving.

"I'm thankful that the column Right To The Point isn't in the paper 7 days a week. Just kidding. I'm thankful for my beautiful wife, my three grown children, my 7 grandchildren, and good health. So many folks aren't so fortunate. I'm truly blessed."

_____

"I am thankful Tennessee doesn't play this week, so I can relax and just enjoy the weekend. Speaking of the Vols, you have said you didn't have confidence that Jeremy Pruitt is "The Guy," and I was offended. Turns out, you were right, probably ... I hate to think about another coaching search, which we all can agree isn't going to happen until at least the end of next season. I hate Bama, as much or more than you Auburn grads, but give them credit, after a couple of coaching searches, they decided to spend the money and get the guy they wanted. They were able to buy the Coach that said he couldn't be bought. I'm not sure UT will ever do that, and it sucks."

_____

"I am thankful there is a local columnist with a sense of humor that can pen a column without trying to make me feel guilty. I am white, own a home, have a car and job. Merry Thanksgiving, 2020."

_____

"I am thankful for who knows how much longer, but we still live in the Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave, the greatest country on earth. Thankful to the men and women that have served, in the military and many other capacities, to provide that liberty and safety for us."

_____

"I am thankful it looks like we have multiple effective treatments and vaccinations for the COVID-19 virus, and what we have learned will help us during future epidemics and/or pandemics. Hopefully, this will bring an end to this virus that has taken so much from all of us since March. Here's to 2021, and the hope for America and its citizens, the best is yet to come!"

_____

"I am thankful for the family that I have — a husband & son that loves unconditionally. A future daughter-in-law that loves the same way. The opportunity to live in a country where I can worship freely. A company that is still in business. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to list things I'm thankful for."

_____

"I join you in being thankful! However, I am thankful for Dr. Fauci. With the many public pronouncements about the virus, I feel secure in his wisdom."

_____

"I wrote to you in 2017 about resigning from my job to take care of my mom and again in 2018 to say how much I cherished the time I spent caring for her. She passed away 1/4/2018. This year I'm thankful for my son and daughter-in-law's twins that are due in April. The circle of life continues and God is indeed good."

_____

"I am thankful [for] that irrepressible grin on the delightful Pam Sohn's face after Joe Biden's win over her nemesis, 'Donald.' Pam, who as the editor of the 'left' editorial page of this newspaper, has endorsed more losers than the '62 Mets, the worst team in modern-day baseball with a 40-120 (.250) record that year. (They finished 60 games behind San Francisco in the National League.) Pam's collection of 'first runner-up' trophies is of such legend it makes politicians, on every level, pray she will endorse their opponent. In truth, she is a brilliant writer with a huge heart, but still one who should never bet on a horse race, a football game or any nincompoops. Here's to you, Pam. Never quit swinging for the fences!"

_____

"Thank you, Jay, for giving ordinary people a chance to express their thanks. I have realized several times since I reached the "over 70" threshold how incredibly thankful I am for eyeglasses and the corrected vision they bring. A few generations ago my life at this point would have been 'over' as far as being able to read, drive, sew, work, enjoy God's beautiful world, etc. I am so grateful for opticians, optical labs and the benefits of having corrective lenses. It is a game-changer in life."

_____

"I have intended to contact you for several days. An old liberal Democrat wants you to know your commentaries have been very responsible with respect to COVID-19, wearing masks and Thanksgiving. Thank you sir ... Now with regard to what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving? It's what I have been saying for the past 25 years: I am thankful for having been born white and male in America. I not sure that's what you are looking for, but it is the truth."

_____

"I am so thankful for all those at Chattanooga National Cemetery who didn't stay home when called to active duty because it was dangerous."

_____

"I am thankful for the exceptionally beautiful weather we experienced last spring and now again this fall. With the exception of the horrific Easter night tornadoes and a few short periods of drought this summer, things couldn't have been better weather-wise."

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
