Scenic City Friends, a 50+ nonprofit organization of men and women who volunteer at Parkridge Medical Center, recently donated two new wheelchairs to the hospital's fleet of chairs. Jamie Lawson, marketing director of Parkridge Hospital, accepted the donation.
SCF's mission is to provide activities for seniors, including volunteering, traveling and educational luncheons each month. Next year, the group has plans to travel to Cumberland Playhouse in Crossville; Harrah's Casino in Murphy, N.C.; Lancaster, Pennsylvania Amish Country; and Hogansville, Georgia Hummingbird Festival, among others.
The group also donates money and supplies to local schools, the Salvation Army, Chattanooga Food Bank and other organizations in the Chattanooga community. To volunteer or attend one of our events, call 423-495-1864, check Scenic City Friends on Facebook or email Sceniccityfriends@gmail.com.
