Jim Wilson's music silenced

Who can count the occasions -- both happy and solemn -- when master pianist Jim Wilson enthralled, inspired and comforted local audiences at worship services, concerts, weddings, funerals and other important gatherings?

Now we are saddened by the news that Wilson's music has ended with his death at the age of 83.

Jim and his late wife, Noveita, were an important part of our musical, civic and community life for many years on many occasions.

Surely, many will remember his excellent music at church services, with jazz and dance bands, at the Cotton Ball and with the Glenn Draper Singers.

His artistry made every such event more wonderful and appreciated.

His life will be celebrated at a service Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
