Good Deed: Neighbors turn crisis into blessing

Neighbors turn crisis into blessing

Shortly after I moved into the Windstone community on Ooltewah-Ringgold Road, I found myself being released from the hospital after a double knee replacement surgery. I was in a panic. I knew very few people in my new subdivision, and my husband was out of town on a job.

Volunteers came from every corner of the subdivision (many whom I had never met). They signed up to take me to physical therapy and doctors' appointments. Many brought food. Neighbors brought the mail and newspaper to me, and some even offered to walk my puppy! What seemed to be an insurmountable crisis turned into a blessing.

I still can't believe the good heart and selflessness of my new community, and I am now enriched with many new friendships. This was organized via a website, www.MealTrain.com, where volunteers signed up for all my needs.

Thank you, Windstone, a place I proudly call home.
