Sign petition to support Navy officer's action

The TFP ran a story last Friday about a Navy commander defending his Marines with his personal weapon.

The article mentioned that a petition to the White House had been started to honor him and others for their heroic action under fire. (The petition needs 100,000 signatures within 30 days for the White House to consider it.) In part, it reads:

"These men fired back, risking and sacrificing their lives valiantly. But for the gallant actions under enemy fire of LCDR Tim White and his men, many more lives would have been lost that day."

Here is the link to the petition. If you are so moved, please sign it: (https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/honor-our-service-members-who-used-their-personal-firearms-fight-back-against-terrorist-attacker-chattanooga).

Evil pervades society, culture, government

Wrong has been changed to right. Evil people have been elected to represent us. They have allowed the murder of millions of precious, innocent babies by abortion and then allowed them to be butchered and their body parts to be sold for their "gain."

They have changed the God-ordained one man-one woman marriage to same-sex marriage. They have applauded individuals changing their God-given sexual orientation. They have allowed believers of evil to attempt to corrupt the religious beliefs of our young people.

The Ten Commandments are being removed and are not allowed in places where they were once revered.

They want to change our Constitution and have allowed our laws to become ineffective. They no longer think it is necessary to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States.

Allegiance, respect, compassion and love have been replaced with disrespect, hate, greed, violence and control. God must be upset with us, to think he gave his son to die for such as we have become. He has promised that if we turn from our wicked ways, he will restore our nation. America needs to repent before all is lost.

Time for Tennessee to legalize marijuana

Our state legislators need to go to Google and study the reports of the state of Colorado about the revenue collections in the first five months of legalized marijuana sales.

The total tax revenue was $102,395,176, of which $23,949,565 went to school construction. Additional savings were generated by fewer state prisoners and reduced police overhead.

The FBI reported a 10.1 percent decrease in overall crime from 2013 and a 5.2 percent drop in violent crime. Over the last decade, Colorado was averaging more than 10,000 arrests and citations every year for minor marijuana possession.

Economic benefits were also found in the creation of 10,000 new jobs in the marijuana industry (sales, greenhouses, fertilizer, etc.). The governor signed a new bill that will provide $10 million for research into the medical efficacy of marijuana.

It is time for Tennessee to take the sales of marijuana away from the street criminals and regulate this industry similar to alcohol sales.
